This week, MAKERS India pays its homage to the some of the fiercest female pioneers of science in India. Today, let's look at Asima Chatterjee- the first woman to receive a Doctorate of Science from an Indian university (University of Calcutta).
Asima was born in 1917 to a family that encouraged her in academics. In the 1950's, she was invested in developing anti-epileptic and anti-malarial drugs. Her work aided in the development of chemotherapy drugs.
