In collaboration with Instagram, Deepika Padukone has come up with a “wellness guide” to help people deal with “stress and anxiety” in the times of COVID-19. The initiative, undertaken as part of the ongoing global Mental Health Awareness month, includes tips and first-hand account of the Bollywood actress herself, as she opens up about nurturing mental health in the middle of a global pandemic.
“Caring for our mental health and seeking support when we are feeling overwhelmed has always been important. These aspects have become even more critical at a time when the pandemic has affected millions, globally,” she shared in her wellness guide, before listing multiple practical ways in which one can address their mental health during a lockdown, including self love and self care.
Other handy tips included, “do what you love”, “daily routines for mental health and wellness during Covid-19”, “hone a skill”, “Build a support system” and “meditate and exercise”. These guidelines, as Deepika said, are from her personal experiences, things she has been doing to ensure her wellness.
“I am sure we all agree that the past several weeks have not only been exceptionally unusual but also very difficult; uncertainty about the future, loss of livelihoods, and the inability to be around family and loved ones, are just a few of the challenges facing us,” the Padmavat actress has said about the initiative.
She added, “And situations such as these, often lead to or aggravate mental illness. I look forward to sharing with all of you some of the things I’ve been doing over the past several weeks to nurture my mental health, and I hope you find them useful too.”
The “wellness guide” – latest from Instagram – is a part of its larger initiative, under which the social media giant is partnering with global influencers, publishers, and organizations to create long form content, engaging people and helping the community stay inspired in these difficult times.
Much like IGTV, this new feature – called Guides – will have a dedicated section on an individual/account’s profile. It can be cross shared as stories or viewed as content in the “wellness” part of the Explore tab of the picture-sharing app.
