October 8 is celebrated as Indian Air Force Day - to mark the anniversary of the IAF's establishment in 1932. Although a highly male-dominated branch, with less than 2000 women serving currently, the IAF has been a coveted sector for employment. It is only in the last 25 years, however, that women have been able to make a mark at the IAF.
