Karishma Khanna finds organising therapeutic. But doing it as a career meant that she was charting her own path; professional organising is hardly heard of in India.
"You can count the number of professional organisers in India with your fingers; so marketing has been mostly via social media and word of mouth," she tells MAKERS India. She also also recollects how the Japanese celebrity organising consultant Marie Kondo inspired her, and how India is warming up to the idea of professional organisers.
Karishma has worked in advertising for more than six years; but entrepreneurship was always her calling. "My father is an entrepreneur, and I have dreamt of being an entrepreneur since I was a kid. Since I launched Sorted Homes in 2018, I have been a one-woman army, with part-time workers sourced through NGOs to help me with the manual labour," she tells MAKERS India.
