This week, MAKERS India pays its homage to the some of the fiercest female pioneers of science in India. Today, let's revist the life and work of Kamala Sohonie- the first Indian woman to receive a PhD in Science and the first to be admitted to the Indian Institute of Science.
She completed her PhD at Cambridge University in 1939, where she discovered and wrote her thesis on the enzyme ‘Cytochrome C’ during her study of plant tissue. She succeeded as a researcher, teacher and scientist, proving to the world that talent has no gender.
