Saanvi M Prajit is a name that will go down in the annals of the culinary world for a long time. The 10-year old girl from Ernakulam, Kerala, who currently resides in Visakhapatnam, has created a record number of dishes in 60 minutes. Her unique achievement of preparing 33 dishes in an hour got her a place in the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records.
Fried rice, chicken roast, pancake, appam, sandwich, idli, waffle, corn fritters, mushroom tikka, and paneer tikka, were some of the dishes that she prepared en route to her record breaking cooking.
A class VI student at Navy Children School, she only had to break the previous record of 18 dishes, but she ended up making more than 33 dishes. Her parents add that she learned the art of cooking quickly during the lockdown period.
Saanvi is the daughter of Wing Commander of Indian Air Force, Prajit Babu, and HK Manjima, a corporate trainer, Bharatanatyam dancer, and a regular at cooking shows in Malayalam TV channels. Manjima said that her daughter was always a huge fan of cooking and had even prepared ‘Ada payasam’ (a dessert in Kerala cuisine) for a cookery show when she was five.
In an interview to the PTI, Manjima has said, "The Asia Book of Records authorities watched online the cookery event organised at her Visakhapatnam residence. Besides, two gazetted officers were witness to the cooking of 33 items in an hour by Saanvi.”
Her YouTube page called ‘Saanvi Cloud 9’ hosts a collection of her cooking and dancing videos. Saanvi counts her mother as one of her inspirations. She had taken a liking to cooking from a young age and always used to put in a lot of effort when trying out recipes. Her mom adds that she followed the style of her grandparent’s cooking before she found one that suited her.
