The Gender Park, in partnership with UN Women, is organising the second edition of International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE) at Kozhikode in February 2021.
This is aimed at enabling stakeholders to engage with different aspects of sustainable entrepreneurships and social businesses.
Starting on February 11, the three-day conference will be held at The Gender Park’s Kozhikode campus in a hybrid (partially digital) format, owing to the COVID-19 protocols.
K K Shailaja, Kerala Minister for Health, Social Justice and Women & Child Development, announced the conduct of the conference by releasing a brochure.
Nishtha Satyam, UN Women Deputy Country Representative; Biju Prabhakar, Secretary, Social Justice and Women & Child Development; and Dr P T M Sunish, CEO of The Gender Park, were also present on the occasion.
The core theme of the conference — Gender in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Social Business: The Mediating Role of Empowerment — seeks to throw light on the critical linkages between entrepreneurship, economic growth, and poverty reduction.
Around 50 speakers, including industry experts, and academics, will be addressing the event, sharing their knowledge and experiences. It will feature delegates, including budding entrepreneurs and social innovators from national and international quarters.
Shailaja said the conference envisages an initiation of policy-level dialogue and gender-sensitive interventions for socially-inclined entrepreneurship models.
Earlier this month, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to formalise the partnership between UN Women and The Gender Park.
The Gender Park, established in 2013, is an autonomous body of the government of Kerala to work towards gender equality and empowerment in the state. Its vision is to create a society where all genders have equal access to opportunities, resources, and benefits with an equal voice in key decision-making that shapes their lives, communities, and the state.
Gender Park hosted the first ICGE in association with UN Women in November 2015.
