MAKERS India is all set to hold the first-ever annual conference, at Hotel Conrad in Bengaluru on March 13-14. We are honoured to have women who have established themselves as leaders across sectors – education, entrepreneurship, arts, entertainment, philanthropy, tech, corporate, and more – as speakers at our biggest annual event, which is built on the theme of Women Who Make India.
Here are a few learning opportunities at the MAKERS India conference for the audience, whether you are a part of workforce or wants to be one, whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur or a leader already.
Day One: March 13
One of the very first workshops at MAKERS India – titled Taking Ownership of Your Career and Life – is a session that will help you understand why it’s important to take charge of your professional life, unapologetically. Our experts will help you understand things such as - time management, clarity of goals, packaging your skill set and USPs better, etc.
Another workshop, to be held on the same day, is a session to hone your leadership skills. Named ‘Being Mindful When Your Mind is Full: A Practice for Leadership,’ this workshop will to help you evolve as a leader, one who is much more than just a task master or a typical text book boss. Our expert will walk you through some important elements you need to keep in mind to become a successful leader.
The third workshop on Friday will be on women re-joining the workforce. As India continues to try and elevate the participation of women in its workshop from the meagre 26% it currently is, our experts at this workshop will take you through the much-needed elements for rejoining work after a hiatus. The session will take you through proper methods skills assessment, job search training, training for the interviews and much more.
Day 2: March 14
One of the most relevant workshops to be held at the MAKERS India annual conference is on the ‘Power of an inclusive organisational culture.’ Gender diversity and inclusion are an important part of every organisation’s narrative. The benefits of gender diversity have become apparent over the years, and companies are working towards having an equal representation of men and women in their organisations. Learn more about the topic from an expert.
In the second workshop of the day, you will get to know the ways of streamlining focus and competencies on work after re-joining after a hiatus. Titled ‘Re-joining and scaling back to the top,’ it focuses on what you can do to ensure the pressure of 'proving yourself all over again' doesn't affect you negatively.
If you are an employee struggling with remuneration, the next workshop is for you. Aptly titled ‘How to negotiate salary and promotion’ this session will teach you the do's and don'ts of being a hard, rational and unapologetic negotiator when you face your bosses during that much dreaded appraisal season.
Networking and Community
In addition to all these workshops, another highlight of the conference is the opportunity for networking and learning from each other in a sea of accomplished women. The conference guarantees a chance to learn from experts, the need of building and adding to your skill set.
Business leaders will help you know more about taking the right career path, as well as share their experiences and some professional hacks. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, this conference is also the best occasion to meet and listen to the wisdom of women who are making strides in this field. You also get a chance to meet the women who are working hard to bring more inclusivity into STEM fields, which are often the highest-paid and male-dominated.
Last but not the least, audience at the MAKERS India conference will also get to know more about reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, safe abortion rights, and how to fight myths related to a woman's body from the people who are doing some inspirational work in this field.
