Gawde, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), is the founder of the Durga Gawde Studio. The artist and human rights activist who has spoken about gender dysphoria and androgyny to the media believes art is key to their self-expression.
