Being unhappy in your marriage, leaving it and deciding to raise your kids on your own is no easy feat. But Garima Bhandari has now come too far to look back. Donning multiple hats, Bhandari is a highly coveted international public figure, an image management evangelist, wellness and beauty advisor and influencer, an Ashtanga yoga practitioner as well as a mentor and coach in wellness and lifestyle — and all these while being a single mother of two children.
“I firmly believe that irrespective of the fame and power you have achieved with your hard work, if you do not put them to good use for inspiring or uplifting others, it's completely futile. That is what I have been doing,” says Bhandari.
However, things were not a cakewalk for the 37-year old. Having seen her mother struggle to make ends meet in the family after her father’s demise, Bhandari decided to ease the burden on her mother by earning at the age of 16 and paying for her college fees at NIFT.
After getting married at the age of 22, shortly followed by depression, miscarriage and divorce, she did not want to succumb to anymore personal struggles.
Admitting that the early stages of her kids were fraught with financial challenges, Bhandari prioritised their education and wellbeing over her own desires since the beginning.
While pursuing a course in image consulting from Image Consulting Business Institute in 2013, Bhnadari also took up multiple jobs to make ends meet in her family — from modelling assignments, music videos to content writing, and anything that came her way.
Post the course, she started receiving end to end projects with corporates for conducting workshops for brides, graduates, housewives, etc.
It was around the same time when she felt she was not happy and wanted to do something for herself to fight her insecurities. “There was a lot of stigma regarding a divorce and a single parent that I had to go through. I was not included as a part of the ‘normal’ society. I thus started self-practising yoga to find some peace and solace,” recalls Bhandari.
This made her delve deep and gain more insights into yoga. Intrigued by the space, she found a teacher and started enrolling in yoga courses.
Simultaneously, she was getting instant recognition and acknowledgement through her social media. But she did not stop there and went ahead with starting up an on-demand hair and makeup services at home called ‘Glo’.
“Using all my skills and education in fashion and beauty gradually started boosting my confidence that I have it within me,” says Bhandari.
Today, she is a promising and celebrated figure in the health, wellness and yoga sector.
What makes Bhandari earn much more momentum is also her expertise in handling social media, being an influencer on the same and empowering innumerable young minds and others through creating relatable, trending and honest content that resonates with the audience.
