Actor-filmmaker Nandita Das - who was anointed a Youth Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010 and became the first Indian to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the International Women's Forum in 2011 - is nothing short of a maverick in her choice of roles and story telling.
Nandita, who has served on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival twice, says that cinema has always been a means to an end for her. "The acting work has given me opportunities to talk about the things I cared for," she has told MAKERS India.
On her birthday - November 7 - find out more about our favourite picks among her performances.
