The ongoing farmers' protest received global recognition after international pop star Rihanna on Tuesday tweeted about the same.
The 32-year-old singer showed her support for the farmers protesting on the borders of New Delhi against the three farm laws by tweeting about them. She shared a news article on the protest with a caption that read, “Why aren’t we talking about this?!” #FarmersProtest.

Rihanna became arguably the first global star to voice her support for the protesting farmers.. The tweet by Rihanna, who has 100 million followers on the microblogging site, garnered thousands of retweets and likes within an hour.
Soon after this tweet, social activist Greta Thunberg expressed "solidarity" with the protesting farmers. A host of other celebrities including Bollywood actors Swara Bhaskar, Richa Chadha, You Tuber Lilly Singh also reacted to Rihanna and Greta on Twitter.
Richa Chadha replied to Rihanna with a heart, hands joined in prayer emoji and a bow and arrow emoji. She also replied with a "Yes" to Greta's tweet that read, "We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India."

Lilly Singh also responded to Rihanna's tweet. She replied to her, "Yes! Thank you so much @rihanna. This is a humanity issue! #IStandWithFarmers and this narrative is TIRED."
Rihanna’s tweet, however, got mixed reactions among the ‘twitteratis’ with some branding the pop star as an outsider and suggesting that she shouldn't be talking about things she doesn't know about.
Among these were actress Kangana Ranaut, who chose to offer an answer to Rihanna. Kangana was quick to post her reply, calling the international icon a "dummy," and addressing the farmers as "terrorists”.
“No one is talking about it because they are not farmers, they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like the USA... Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies,” Kangana tweeted.
