Marginalization is when a group of people are denied access and involvement in mainstream activities that are cultural, economic, social, and political in nature because of their identity which has been systematically oppressed. Oppression and discrimination of marginalized groups run deep, often even resulting in physical violence and persecution. There’s no denying it. And it’s about time we stopped ignoring it. Today, more than ever, it is important to be an ally and advocate for those whose voices are silenced by what’s considered mainstream society. So, what can you do to be an ally?
