Most of us remember Maria Goretti as the effervescent VJ from MTV, but today she dons several other hats with élan -- that of a chef, cook-book author, and TV presenter. Her journey into gastronomy began in 2010, when she started cooking for her kids. It was around the same time that she started blogging on the insistence of a writer friend, and there’s been no looking back since then.
Maria’s interest in the culinary arts led her to do an afterschool program in baking at Mumbai’s Sophia Polytechnic; in 2011 she received a certificate in culinary skills, bakery and boulangerie from Tante Marie Culinary School in London. In 2018, she also fulfilled her desire to understand the nuances of pastry that she learnt at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris and London.
Maria also went on to write her Gourmand award-winning cook-book, ‘From My Kitchen to Yours’ that covers all her experiments in the kitchen as well as several recipes from her mother’s and grandmother’s kitchen.
What sets Maria apart as a chef is how she uses the most simple ingredients to make the most delectable dishes. Married to actor Arshad Warsi, she is also mom to two teenage kids: Zeke Zidaan and Zene Zoe.
