Ankita was in Class 10 when she zeroed in on her future. Ever since she was a young girl, she knew she’d start a business of her own one day. A few years in the corporate rat race prepared her even further. Today, she is the co-founder of B2B startup Enthrall Labs.
The Bengaluru-based startup’s SaaS product HyPerk helps small-sized offline businesses — convenience stores, restaurants, salons, pet stores, and bookstores — acquire high-value customers. Apart from the tricks of building a solid business, Ankita also learnt the importance of having an enriching journey.
“Over the years I have come to realise that it’s not about the pursuit of happiness. In fact, it is the happiness of the pursuit”, Ankita tells MAKERS India.
Along with her co-founder Amitabh Mehta, Ankita has been enabling small and medium businesses to engage with their target audience effectively, thereby retaining their customers and strengthening their business. Ankita and Amitabh were classmates at IIM-B, and started Enthrall Labs in 2017, a year after they graduated. Today, the platform has helped business owners create meaningful engagements and serves over 14,000 active users.
Business in times of COVID-19
“As a company, we have changed our focus a little bit. We are focussing on developing our product right now,” says Ankita, who is busy identifying the areas that can be spruced up at this time when businesses are going slow. She and her team are invested in building features and products that will be relevant in the post COVID world.
Apart from building the online dashboards to cut human interventions, Ankita is also spending her time to fulfil her business bucket list. She says, “It’s better to use this time to do things you haven’t been able to get to. There’s no denying that in short term, businesses have taken a hit and it will be so for quite some time, but there’s no point in giving in to this fear.”
For the long haul
“Things are impossible until they are not done, and the only and actual way to find out is by doing them,” says Ankita and she hopes to inculcate the same passion and beliefs in her team. According to her being optimistic, patient and curious are the strongest qualities of an entrepreneur.
Ankita explains, “When you’ll start your journey, you’ll realise that you have to keep learning and looking for answers every day. As you move forward, you’ll realise that there’s so much to learn and achieve.”
In the past three years at Enthrall Labs, she has created a team that shares her passion for learning and exploring new things and resonate with her idea of equality and perseverance.
Another aspect that Ankita has been working on is building a gender-neutral team. She believes that while its important to empower women, it’s also equally crucial to prepare men to co-exist with these strong and ambitious women.
“I just believe that one should just their keep chin up, and work towards achieving their goals. As long as you are enjoying the journey and you feel you are adding value to yourself every day, it is totally worth it,” Ankita signs off.
