Women and Money Matters: All About Gender Budgeting
In this episode of Women and Money Matters, Nisary Mahesh, Founder of HerMoneyTalks explains how and why gender budgeting is a pertinent but extremely neglected aspect of the financial budget that the union finance ministry will be presenting on February 1. Mahesh tells us in this interview how the budget allocation for gender budgeting has been stagnant in the last 14 years since its inception in 2006.
She also explains how the budget allocations made by the finance ministry under the gender sections can be so contrived that they may even not help the cause of women’s growth in the country directly or indirectly.
Women and Money Matters is a series that MAKERS India launched recently in collaboration with Nisary in order to find answers around why, what, where, and how of financial literacy amongst women in India.
