Women are going to change this country, so it’s important to empower them, asserts Anita Dongre, chief creative officer, House of Anita Dongre. When women earn economic empowerment, they are not dependent on their husbands or other male family heads for every single thing. Moreover, they spend that money to buy books and educate their daughters, thus enabling a virtuous cycle of socio-economic empowerment.
In this episode, Dongre narrates stories of how local craftswomen not only earned agency but also respect through their work. A leading voice in the sustainable fashion space in India, Dongre talks about the potential of traditional crafts to impact lives positively.
